I will mention that the Minolta Dual IV with Silverfast has become vulnerable to quirks that are likely from lack of updated support with Windows XP, and there go the 6400 files, but I'm almost prepared to move on. I don't have what you are looking for and haven't made a direct comparison since then, but suspect the difference is slight Dual IV 3200 files scanned at 6400 are still packed with fine detail when cropped. Is there any chance that you have other pictures scanned with both scanners to be able to compare them? Thank you! Do you have the uncropped version of the picture you scanned with the Scan Dual IV? The reality of scanning now is that I rarely do select the highest resolution and settle for 3200 because the unsupported Windows XP on a POS desktop that is only used for scanning will struggle to handle 6400 files, and every so often an update failure - regardless of settings - manages to booger my workflow. This scanner still cranks out high res 35mm scans that have greatly suppressed the FOMO syndrome pertaining to DSLR macro scans - though I would like to scrutinize a humble collection of A-Mount lenses with something like the Sony A99II. I'm becoming more convinced that adding 6400dpi scan capabilities to a 12 year old 3200dpi scanner might be a winner. The 6400dpi chrome hangs in there much longer under magnification in Windows Photo Viewer, while the 3200dpi begins to look animated.
